Set against the stunning Superstition Mountains at golden hour, this maternity photoshoot celebrated the quiet beauty of this season and the anticipation of welcoming new life. But what made it even more memorable? The surprise gender reveal built right into the session – completely planned by Delaney from Honey I Do.
From the very beginning, I worked closely with this beautiful couple to curate a theme that felt romantic, timeless, and true to their story. I sourced the gown – a dreamy, tulle maternity dress that flowed effortlessly in the desert breeze – and brought it to the shoot for her to wear. (Yes, styling is included when you book with Honey I Do!) From posing guidance to wardrobe and mood, every detail was intentional.
One of the sweetest parts of this shoot? The gender reveal cake.
I found a local Arizona bakery and coordinated the entire thing – the couple didn’t know the gender of their baby until we captured the moment mid-shoot. The cake was simple and elegant with “Baby” piped across the top… but the real reveal came when they cut inside to find vibrant blue cake! Paired with ultrasound prints, cozy baby booties, and the warm light of the desert, it was the kind of moment that stops time.
This location is one of Arizona’s true gems. Located just outside Phoenix, the Superstition Mountains offer the most cinematic backdrop for maternity portraits – wild, golden, and emotionally grounded. It’s the kind of place where big love feels right at home.
When you book with Honey I Do, you’re getting more than photos – you’re getting a creative partner who helps you design something personal, stylish, and story-driven. From styling wardrobe pieces to planning surprises like this gender reveal, I’m here to make your maternity session unforgettable.
